Community Training

In addition to providing emergency medical care, Post 53 is an American Heart Association Community Training Center for First Aid, CPR and AED training!  Click here for more information.

Community Outreach

Post 53 offers blood pressure screenings, ambulance tours, 911 talks and safety presentations to youth groups and community organizations.  We can send an ambulance crew to visit preschools, elementary and middle schools to explain our role in the community and how we help the sick and injured. An ambulance show-n-tell is included and emergency medical technicians will demonstrate some of the equipment on board the ambulance.

Posties also enjoy sharing their knowledge and introducing the community to Post and what they do. Children can see the ambulance at events such as the Memorial Day Food Fair in the spring and attend the annual Post Haunted House in the fall.

The Memorial Day Food Fair and Community Celebration

The Memorial Day Food Fair and Community Celebration at Tilly Pond Park is a day of celebration and excitement for the town of Darien. Post 53 members work year-round to prepare for this day of food, live entertainment, games, ambulance tours, and a silent auction. The famous food tents include food from local vendors and Post 53’s own recipes. The event is a day of fun for the entire family and helps to maintain Darien EMS’s free service to the town of Darien.
