Young adults and adult advisors are certified CPR Instructors after participating in AHA training. Classes are offered throughout the year to Darien residents and other town personnel including First Responders, school and library personnel. For more information contact: email@example.com.
The Town of Darien was designated as a HEARTSafe Community in the spring of 2009 joining 36 other CT towns as designated by the CT Department of Public Health. The qualification signifies the commitment, on the part of the town and its citizens, to become familiar with classic heart attack warning signs and be trained in CPR/AED.
Darien EMS-Post 53 is part of a new protocol being adopted by Stamford Hospital and taught to selected EMS services - Cardiocerebral Resuscitation (CCR). CCR uses continuous chest compressions only, in other words, no "breaths", or mechanical ventilations, in conjunction with an AED in witnessed only cardiac arrests. Dr. Thomas Nero, a Stamford Hospital cardiologist, launched this protocol to promote cardiac arrest survival rates in the field.
